Beach WA 1986 commences at the inflection and tends to the northeast for 2.3 km as a crenulate recurved spit that forms the southern boundary of the 500 m wide creek mouth, with tidal shoals extending up to 4 km west of the creek mouth. The two beaches are part of a 4 km long, 0.5-1 km wide unstable barrier system, which is backed by the mangrove-lined creek, salt flats and a floodplain extending up to 9 km inland. Frazier Downs is located 6 km inland on the northern side of the floodplain.
