Beach WA 2015 commences on the northern side of the small creek mouth and continues the trend of the barrier to the northeast for another 3.2 km, to the southern side of Port Smith entrance. The high tide sand beach is initially fronted by the near continuous 500 m wide intertidal rock flats. Towards the port there are replaced by the entrance tidal sand shoals of Port Smith, which lowers wave energy at the shore causing the high tide beach to diminish in size. The tidal shoals extend 2 km south along the beach and together with a shore-parallel tidal channel extend up to 2 km offshore. The beach is backed by a 15-20 m high vegetated foredune, overlapping the Pleistocene calcarenite core. The Pleistocene barrier consists of a series of lithified north-trending recurved spits backed by the 1-2 km wide mangrove-filled southern arm of Port Smith.
