Beach WA 1999 extends from the lee of 25 m high Cliff Point for 2.2 km to Rocky Point at the mouth of Cowan Creek. This is a northwest-facing high tide beach, fronted by continuous high tide beachrock bluffs, then flat featureless 1 km wide tidal flats. The calcarenite core extends as a 200 m wide spit to the creek mouth, including a calcarenite recurved spit at the entrance. The spit is backed by 2 km wide mangroves and salt flats of the southern side of the creek. Vehicle tracks run around the side of the flats to reach the spit.
