Beaches K 284 and 285 are located approximately 5 km west of the entrance. Both are 400 m long and face north into Collier Bay. Beach K 284 grades from sand into boulders littered with driftwood, and is fronted by 300 m wide mud flats. It is tied to scarped bluffs with a 600 m long elongate lagoon behind. Beach K 285 is similar with a small barrier and backed by a 1 km wide band of mangroves, which separates the beaches and bluffs from the backing high country.
