Beach WA 1944 commences 1 km southeast of Mulla Mulla Down Creek, with mangroves dominating the shoreline in between. The beach curves slightly to the southeast for 6.3 km to a clump of mangroves that mark an inflection in the shore. This is a low energy beach fronted by 1 km wide intertidal sand flats grading seaward into mud flats. It is backed by a 1 km wide series of up to eight foredune ridges, up to 20 m in height, then 2-3 km wide swamp. Two parabolic dunes have blown 1.5 km inland from the eastern end of the beach, the dunes activated by strong winter easterly winds. A straight vehicle track via Pardoo and Techelo wells crosses the foredunes to reach the centre of the beach.
