Beach WA 38 is separated from beach WA 37 by a low rocky point that extends offshore for 200 m as a rock reef. The beach trends to the southwest for 4.5 km, with a slight foreland at 3 km to the lee of a rock reef located 500 m offshore. Waves average over 1.5 m in the east, decreasing slowly to the west, particularly past the foreland. The higher waves maintain a 100 m wide surf zone cut by strong beach rips along the first 2 km, which give way as waves decrease to a continuous attached bar. The beach is backed by moderately active dunes climbing to 20 m and extending 100-200 m inland. The Telegraph Track passes within 500 m of the rear of the beach.
Beaches WA 39-41 are located along the eastern side of the protrusion in lee of Bellinger Island and associated rock reefs.
