The main Lucky Bay beach (WA 132) commences on the western side of the granite finger and trends for 3.4 km to the northwest, before spiraling round to finally face east in lee of the 80 m high western headland The beach is initially exposed to waves averaging over 1.5 m which maintain a 100 m wide surf zone, cut by several strong beach rips. Along the western kilometre of beach waves decrease with a continuous bar narrowing (Fig. 4.33). and becoming reflective in the western corner. The beach is backed by a relative stable well vegetated 10 m high foredune with one area of instability at the northern apex of the bay. These are backed by well vegetated transgressive dunes that extend up to 3 km inland, climbing the lower slopes of Mississippi Hill in the east. The main car park and camping area is located on the slopes above the western corner, with the beach also used to launch small coast and provide 4WD access along the shore to the remainder of the beach. Water seeps out of the western rocks and drains across the beach.
Beach Length: 3.4km
