The Thistle Cove beach (WA 133) is a curving 1 km long beach that faces southeast out of the bay mouth. It receives moderate waves averaging about 1 m, which maintain a continuous low tide bar, usually free of rips, apart from a small permanent rips against the eastern rocks, just below the car park. The beach is backed by a 20-30 m high, unstable foredune, which has impounded a 4 ha lake and backing wetlands. It is bordered by sloping granite rocks, with a 100 m long western outcrops separating it form beach
