Beaches WA 148 commences on the western side of the jetty and trends southwest for 1 km to a 150 m long groyne, with a rock seawall backing the entire beach. The beach faces southeast and is partly protected by the port breakwater that extends for 1 km north of Dempster Point. Waves average about 0.5 m and surge up a moderately steep narrow beach, backed by a foreshore reserve then the Esplanade road.
