Beach WA 96 commences on the western side of the outcrop and continues to the northwest then west for 6.6 km to the lee of a small linear rock outcrop. Most of the beach receives wave averaging over 1.5 m, decreasing close to the western end. The higher waves result in a rip-dominated surf zone, with up to 25 rips present along the beach. Active dunes maintain a series of blowouts behind the beach, with older vegetated transgressive dunes extending several kilometers to the northeast, blocking several small upland creeks in the process. The small Alexander River does reach the shore towards the western end of the beach and breaks out following heavy rain. Just to the east of the river entrance rock outcrops at the shore and in the surf.
