Le Grande Beach (WA 141) is one of the longer beaches on the south coast. It commences below the northern slopes of Mount Le Grande and spiral to the north-northwest and finally west for 20 km to terminate at a small granite outcrop 1 km west of Wylie Head. The western boundary of the national park is located 8 km up the beach. There is good access at either end of the beach. In the national park, at the southern end of the beach there is a car park and popular camping area, and at Wylie Head at the northern extremity there is a car park and the sheltered corner of the beach which is used to launch small boats. In between is 22 km of natural beach backed by some massive dune transgressions (Fig. 4.36). The entire beach can however be accessed via 4WD from Along the central-southern section of the beach waves average over 1.5 m and maintain a 150 m wide, low gradient rip dominated surf zone, with a low gradient firm beach face. Up to 70 rips can operate along the beach spaced about every 300 m. Waves decrease slightly between 13-16 km up the beach in lee of the small Lion Island and its associated reefs, which have formed a slight foreland formed in their lee. Waves pick up again north of the foreland, only decreasing significantly close to its northern boundary.
