Plumpudding Beach (WA 163) lies between the granite rocks and protruding granite point. The 600 m long beach curves between the two outcrops finally facing north against the southern rocks. It receives increasing protection to the south with waves decreasing to less than 0.5 m. The beach initially has a continuous bar grading south to reflective conditions. Active dunes cascade down onto the northern half, with 30 m high vegetated dunes on the point. There is a vehicle track leading to the point where a righthand break runs along the outside of the rocks. Butty Head extends to the southwest for 5 km from Plumpudding Rocks to the 40 m high granite head. Most of the bedrock is capped by active dunes from Roses Beach (WA 168) with vegetated clifftop dunes south of Plumpudding Beach. Between Plumpudding Beach and the head is 4 km of rocky southeast-facing shore containing two small pockets of sand (beaches WA 164 & 165), with beaches WA 166 and 167 located out on the headland. There is no vehicle access to the three outer head beaches.
