Beaches WA 1873 and 1874 are two sections of sand in a 10 km long calcarenite barrier system that extends from the creek mouth to Cape Thouin. Beach WA 1873 is a 1.8 km long sandy section located along a slight protrusion in the shoreline. It is followed by a second 3.5 km of low calcarenite bluffs, before 1.7 km long beach WA 1874 continues to the point. The entire system faces northwest and receives waves averaging up 0.5 m which break against the low calcarenite bluffs at high tide and up the steep reflective beaches along the sandy sections. The beach and calcarenite sections are all backed by 10-20 m high semi-stable foredune, then vegetated older dunes increasing in width from 300 m in the south to 1 km at the cape. A vehicle track runs along the rear of the dunes to the cape area.
