Beach WA 1870 commences on the eastern side of the foreland. It is a 600 m long north-facing, steep high tide beach, bordered by low calcarenite bluffs to either side. Sand and rock flats extends 300 m off the beach which is backed by three semi-stable foredunes, then vegetated dunes totalling 300 m in width, with the vehicle track behind reaching the foreland. A 1 km long section of low calcarenite bluffs separates it from beach WA 1871 which continues to the northeast for 3.6 km to the mangrove-fringed mouth of the creek, that is linked by a distributary to the Yule River. A continuous dune-capped barrier links the beaches, with the beach backed by a semi stable 20 m high foredune, then 300-500 m wide vegetated dunes. The disused Cowerie Well is located behind the northern end of the beach, with two tall radio towers also backing the beach.
