Beach WA 296 lies on the southern side of the rock outcrop and extends south for 300 m terminating against a steep 30 m high vegetated headland, with a rock platform at its base, while rock reefs lie off the southern half of the beach. Climbing foredunes have developed against the base of the bluffs behind beaches WA 294, 295 and 296. To the south of Point Ann is an east-facing Doubtful Bay. The open bay extends for 23 km to Point Hood, which together with the Doubtful Islands, projects 11 km to the east, thereby protecting the southern section of the bay from southerly waves. Much of the bay shore is taken up with two long continuous beaches (WA 297 & 298) with five small beaches located around Point Hood.
