Beach WA 245 is locally knows as the Twelve Mile Beach (12 miles or 18 km from Hopetoun) and has two car parks on the dunes above the beach. The beach is 1.6 km long and like its neighbours consists of a triple crenulate low energy beach in lee of a near continuous beachrock reef. This impounds a lagoon up to 100 m wide, then the calm shoreline backed by steep 20-30 m high dunes. While the lagoon is relatively calm, beware of a strong permanent rip that drains water out of the lagoon toward the eastern end of the beach, directly below the first car park (Figs. 2.9d, 4.64).
