Beach WA 249 commences at the western end of the lagoon and continues west for 2.3 km to the broad cuspate foreland that separates it from Two Mile Beach (WA 250). The beach has beachrock fringing the shore along its eastern half, while it is free of rock with a continuous 30 m wide low tide bar along the western half, with waves averaging about 1 m. It is backed by a 10-20 m high 200 m wide dune then the road. Immediately east of Hopetoun are the first four in the string of 16 beaches that extend east for 30 km to Mason Bay. The four beaches (WA 250-253) consist of two longer beaches separated by two central pockets of sand. All four faces south-southeast and receive waves that gradually decrease from 1 m in the east to 0.5 m at Hopetoun.
