West Beach (WA 263) is bounded by Cave Point in the east and the beginning of Edwards Point to the west. The beach is 300 m long, faces south and receives waves averaging about 1.5 m. These break across an 80 m wide surf zone and maintain permanent rips against the rocks at either end of the beach, as well as breaking across rocks in the centre of the beach. The beach is backed by a foredune extending 100 m inland rising up over the backing bedrock. There is a small car park on the rise above the centre of the beach containing a bar-b-que and shelter. The beach is not recommended for swimming owing to the strong rips and rocks, but is used by surfers
