Munglinup Beach (WA 215) is a double crenulate, south-facing 600 m long beach lying in lee of a beachrock reef (Fig. 4.58) which extends from the adjoining eastern headland for 2.5 km to the usually blocked mouth of the Oldfield River. While waves break heavily on the reef, they average only about 0.5 m at the beach, increasing slightly at high tide. The beach is suitable for swimming close to shore, however be aware of increasing currents closer to the reefs. It is backed by 10-20 m high partly active dunes, with the car park and beach access behind the centre of the beach. Beach and rock fishing are also popular, however be careful on the headlands as the rocks slope seaward and large waves run over the point seaward of the reef.
Beach Length: 0.6km
General Hazard Rating: 3/10
