Becher Point (WA 794) is a 250 m long west-facing section of the foreland that links the southern beach WA 793, with the Sound beaches (Fig. 4.172). The point itself is a low energy beach backed by a low sandy foredune. The Murray Reefs lower waves at the shoreline to less than 1 m and calms are common. These conditions have permitted extensive sand flats to develop, which extend hundreds of metres off the beach out towards the reef. Seagrass meadows lie beyond the sand flats, and seagrass debris commonly accumulates on the low energy beach. It is backed by the 7 km wide low foredune ridge plain, and accessible by 4 WD tracks through the dunes and along the beach.
