Salmon Pools (WA 414) is located in the western corner of Isthmus Bay, where the cliffs turn and trend south for 3 km to Peak Head. The 300 m long beach faces southeast, and consists of a double-crenulate, steep sandy beach, fronted by a beachrock reef along the central-western section, with an open eastern end (Fig. 4.99). Permanent rips run out the eastern end and at the western tip of the beachrock reef. The reef encloses a relatively calm lagoon along the western half in lee of the reef, however the water flows out through the western rip, so be cautious. A car park is located on top of the 50 m high bluffs behind the beach, with wooden steeps leading down to the beach, which is a popular fishing spot and also offers some right and lefthand surfing breaks running off the reef. Peak Head from the southernmost tip of this section of coast, with an irregular section of shoreline occupying the next 8 km of shoreline to Sharp Point
