Beach WA 417 is located in a small southwest-facing gap on the western side of the head, near the blowholes. The 80 m long beach faces west and consists of a high tide strip of sand and small foredune, backed by steep vegetated slopes rising to 130 m. It is bordered and fronted by granite rocks and boulders, as well as a beachrock reef off to the west. A permanent rip exists the small bay. Cable Beach occupies most of the 2 km wide embayment between Black Head and Cave Point. It consists of two beaches separated by a section of protruding vegetated calcarenite.
