Barker Bay beach (WA 400) occupies the western shore of 1 km wide east-facing Barker Bay. The 700 m long beach links 40 m high Possession Point with the mainland. The beach receives refracted waves averaging about 1 m, which usually surge up a steep cusped reflective beach. This is backed by a steep 10-20 m high foredune, which is scarped in the centre. The foredune is part of a 200 m wide barrier that faces into Princesses Royal Sound on its low energy western shore. There is a gravel road along the crest of Vancouver Peninsula to Geak Point at the southern end of the western shore. It terminates at the entrance to Camp Quaranup, a sport and recreation camp. Whaling Cove is located 500 m southwest of the bay and is a 700 m wide northeast-facing bay. It contains three low energy near continuous beaches, with wave height decreasing from less than 1 m at the western end of the bay to near calm at the more protected eastern end. Remnants of the past whaling days are located in the southern corner.
