WA 403 a relatively steep, narrow 100 m long pocket of sand, with a few rounded granite boulders on the beach and seagrass growing almost to the shore. The Quaranup Road runs along behind the beaches, with a car park on the 20 m high bluffs between beaches WA 402 and 403. The southwestern corner of King George Sound is located between Mistaken Island in the west, the old Whaling Station in the south, with the 5 km long Flinders Peninsula forming the southern arm. Between Mistaken Island and the Whaling Station are five beaches (WA 404-408), with three more beaches (WA 409-411) occupying the next 1.5 km, then steep cliffs dominating the remaining 5 km of the northern side of the peninsula.
