Shelley Beach (WA 430) is located 1 km to the south and is an 800 m long, east-facing beach, also known as Horton Beach. It is backed by densely vegetated dune-draped granite slopes, which rise from 100 to 150 m. A steep narrow valley backs the northern end of the beach from which a small creek emerges to cross the beach during heavy rain. The beach receives low reflected waves averaging about 1 m, which surge up the steep reflective beach (Fig. 4.102). The Horton-Shelly Beach Road runs down the northern side of the valley to the beach where there is a small camping area. Commercial fishermen also use the beach as a base to launch small boats, while a hang and kite gliders launch off a northern ridge top platform to glide along the face of the slopes.
Beach Length: 0.8km
