Beaches WA 646-647-648 are part of a near continuous 6.5 km long beach between North Point and Cape Freycinet, which is broken into the three beaches by calcarenite rocks (Fig. 4.133). Beach WA 646 commences amongst the granite rocks and boulders on the northern side of North Point and trends north for 3.2 km to a section of broken beachrock, just south of the Hooley Road access point. The beach receives waves averaging 1-1.5 m, which maintain a usually narrow bar and occasional rips, including some rips against rock outcrops. It is backed in the south by several blowouts, then the vegetated dunes extending 3-4 km inland. Beach WA 647 extends north of the beachrock for 2 km to a narrow finger of 10 m high calcarenite, which separates it from the northern beach. Waves average 1.5 m and maintain a 50-70 m wide bar cut by rips every few hundred metres, as well as a few rock outcrops. Beach WA 648 continues on north of the rocks for 900 m to the southern granite rocks of Cape Freycinet. Waves increase slightly towards the cape, with a large permanent rip against the rocks. Beaches WA 647 & 648 are backed by generally well vegetated transgressive dunes, apart from an unstable foredune and large blowout at the southern end of beach WA 648.
