On the north side of Cape Mentelle the shoreline trends to the north-northeast for 1.5 km and contains three moderately protected beaches (WA 664-666). Beach WA 664 is a 700 m long relatively steep, narrow reflective beach fronted by shallow inshore reefs extending up to 500 m offshore, with waves averaging less than 1 m at the shore, and seagrass meadows just off the beach. The beach is bordered by a calcarenite platform surrounding the 20 m high cape in the south and a narrow shore perpendicular reef in the north. It is backed by a few private dwellings on cleared land, with no public access. Small boats are moored off the protected southern end of the beach.
