On the north side of Cape Mentelle the shoreline trends to the north-northeast for 1.5 km and contains three moderately protected beaches (WA 664-666). Beach WA 665 commences on the northern side of the reef and continues to curve round towards the northeast for 300 m to a low point formed of granite boulders, with the sand continuing behind the rocks. The beach is fronted by the 500 m wide inshore reefs, with waves averaging about 1 m.
