Margaret River Beach (WA 661) occupies the northern side of the sand foreland and curves for 250 m to the north, terminating at a 20 m high calcarenite bluff, which marks the start of Cape Mentelle. Waves average less than 1 m and usually lap against the steep beach face. On the reef that forms the foreland is a rarely surfed heavy righthand break known as The Box.
