Koombana Beach (WA 766) is the main harbour recreational beach. The 800 m long beach faces north out of the harbour, but is still sheltered by the main breakwater with usually calm conditions (Fig. 4.159). The beach is backed by a small foredune, three large car parks, a kiosk, picnic area, toilets and a Dolphin Discovery Centre at its eastern end. It also has a section for boat launching. This is the most suitable beach for swimming in the harbour region. The beach terminates at Point Busaco, a groyne that forms the western side of the newer Inner Harbour. On the eastern side of the inner harbour entrance is Point Hamilla and two more harbour beaches (WA 767 & 768).
Beach Length: 0.25km
General Hazard Rating: 2/10
