Dunsborough Beach (WA 747) commences on the eastern side of the sandy point and continues east for 7.5 km to Toby Inlet. The inlet drains a creek that runs behind the beach for 5 km to the east, as well as Annie Brook, a series of drainage canals that converge on the inlet, and drain the backing low farmland that occupy the interbarrier depression. The beach trends to the east-southeast as a series of subtle shoreline crenulations, each point tired to a shallow shore transverse sand wave that extend up to 1 km northwest into the bay. These sand waves are spaced about every 500 m and are slowly migrating to the east, and as they do so induce oscillations in the adjacent beach. Seagrass meadows occupy the swales in the between the sand wave crests. The beach itself is a low energy sandy beach, with the crests of the sand waves exposed at low tide. Waves only arrive during very high outside conditions, or strong northerly winds, the latter produce short wind waves. The Geographe Bay Road runs for 5 km along the beach, past sandy Point Templar, to a series of foreshore reserves and car parks, as well as houses on one or both sides of the road, with the elongate creek behind.
