Boat Harbour breach (WA 480) is located in a 150 m wide gap between two rounded 20 m high granite points (Fig. 4.108). The curving 200 m long beach faces southeast and receives refracted waves averaging about 1 m. These break across a low gradient 40 m wide low tide terrace. The Boat Harbour track runs along the back of the beach with vehicle access to both points. There is a basic camping area, two fishing shacks and boat launching from the beach. Freshwater seeps from the backing slopes and drains across the beach. To the west of 60 m high Boat Harbour headland is a 4 km long south-facing open embayment bordered in the west by a 60 m high dune-capped gneiss headland. In between is a mixture of calcarenite cliffs rising to 60 m and seven predominately rock and beachrock reef-dominated beaches. The only access to the coast is via two 4 WD tracks from Boat Harbour that reach the top of the bluffs above beaches WA 481 and WA 484. The bluffs and beaches are backed by largely vegetated, longwalled parabolics that overlie the Pleistocene calcarenite that extends up to 2 km inland intruding part way into the Owingup Swamp. Beaches WA 481 and 482 occupy a 600 m wide, 200 m deep, cliffed embayment 1 km west of Boat Harbour.
