Beach WA 479 is located towards the western end of the embayment. The 1 km long beach commences as a high energy beach fronted by a 200 m wide rip-dominated surf zone. As it curves to the southwest it is afforded increasing protection by the Boat Harbour headland, and waves decrease to less than 1.5 m and the surf narrows to about 50 m with four beach rips usually occupying the total surf zone. It is backed older well vegetated dunes rising to 40 m in the east and extend 2 km inland to bisect a coastal wetland. The dunes are breeched by two active blowouts, one extending 1 km inland up over the earlier dunes, then older dunes. A track off the Boat Harbour track leads out to the centre of the western dune-capped granite headland and provides a view up the beach, as well a 4 WD access onto the beach.
