Beach WA 496 lies another 100 m to the west in a small 100 m wide bay located 1 km north of Point Irwin. The southeast-facing beach is 150 m long, with rocks strewn along a 50 m wide low tide terrace backed by a sandy high tide beach. Waves average about 1 m and during higher wave generate a rip running out of the bay. At Point Irwin the shoreline turns and trends west for 6 km to Rame Head. In between is an exposed high energy, rock and reef-dominated shoreline containing 12 generally small beaches. There is access to the back of most of the beaches via a 4 WD track from Peaceful Bay. The first four beaches (WA 497-500) occupy the first two small rocky bays west of the point. Beaches WA 497 and 498 are located 1 km west of 50 m high Point Irwin and consists of two small pockets of sand on an otherwise rocky shore.
