Boat Harbour beach (WA 339) is a curving 1 km long southeast to east-facing beach, protected by its orientation and protruding gneiss headlands, including the southern Black Point. Waves are lowered to about 1 m decreasing toward the southern end of the beach. The beach in turn grades from a low tide terrace to reflective in the southern corner (Fig. 4.84). A creek breaks out across the northern end of the beach, with an informal camping area on the shore of the small backing lagoon. There is 4WD access to the beach with the track running down to the southern end of the beach where a few fishing shacks are located between the bluffs and beach. This more protected end of the beach is used to launch small fishing boats. Cheyne Bay lies to the west of Black Point with the bay shoreline trending to the southwest then gradually curving round to the south and finally southeast in lee of Cape Riche. The 12 km of generally east-facing bay shoreline contains seven beaches (WA 340-346), which receive increasing protection to the south. There is a gravel road to the southern beaches and 4WD access to the remainder
