Peppermint Beach (WA 304) is located on the eastern side of the bay and faces west-southwest across the bay. The curving 2.5 km long beach is protected along its southern section by the protruding rear of Point Hood. Waves average about 1 m in the southern corner, where they break across a continuous low tide terrace, with wave height increasing up the beach to average about 1.5 m along the northern half, where a 100 m wide rip-dominated surf zone prevails, with a permanent rip against the northern rocks. The beach is backed by generally vegetated parabolic dunes that have extended up to 1.5 km inland, climbing up over the backing bedrock to heights of 80 m. A large partially active parabolic dune is located behind the northern end of the beach, with a vehicle access immediately in front, as well as access at the southern end of the beach.
