Beach WA 543 is an 800 m long narrow strip of sand wedged in between the cliffs and shore parallel intertidal beachrock reef, with wave averaging over 1.5 m breaking 50 m seaward of the reef edge. There is a gap in the reef at the western end, where the beach curves round for 150 m and a strong rip runs out through a 150 m wide surf zone. Cliffs rising to 190 m and fresh rock slides back the beach.
