Beach WA 566 commences at the granite rocks and trends west as a double crenulate shoreline for 2.3 km to a cuspate foreland formed in lee of Ledge Islet, a small granite reef located 400 m offshore. The islet and generally shallow sea floor and reefs lower waves to less than 1.5 m. These maintain a continuous 50 m wide bar, which is only cut by rips during higher wave conditions. Reflecting the lower waves the beach has prograded seaward and is backed by a 500 m wide foredune ridge plain, which continue all the way to Windy Harbour.
