Beach WA 601 commences 400 m to the west, as the calcarenite bluffs move slightly inland and the beach trends northwest, with the 40 m high bluffs backing the first 2 km of the 4.5 km long beach. The beach curves round in a slight arc to terminate at a beachrock reef. Waves average about 1.5 km in the east decreasing slightly towards the west as inshore reefs increase wave attenuation. The beach has a rip-dominated 80 m wide bar in the east grading to a more continuous low tide terrace to the west, with some beachrock also outcropping along the western shore. It s backed by 60-80 m high scarped vegetated dunes which extend up to 1.5 km inland peaking at 146 m at Dickson trig. There is one large active blowout towards the western end.
